As we journey outward, we bring with, our self to the forefront.
The time has come for me, Dan, when the hard work has ended, no longer hustling in the city by the Bay. Stepping out of my den into the bright world that is beyond. We, Sarah and I, have opened the door to the world all around and have taken that first step. Unbelievable as it is to imagine stepping out of the safety of the surroundings you create with hard work and creature comforts. That first step is full of anxiety and fear, but soon enough the adventurous spirit and wanderlust that started you on the path takes over, releasing excitement and the want for exploration, inward as well as outward. So, for now, I bid adieu to my home for the last 2 years....
That first step out lead us from the city into the beautiful expanse that is the American wilderness. We packed up my car with the essentials and headed east, starting our journey to the far east and the Indian Subcontinent, with the high Sierras. We soaked in the the majestic beauty of Yosemite, exploring the heights of the great sequoias, hiking for miles and gaining 3,200' in elevation to the remaining flowing waterfalls of Vernal and Nevada falls. We swam in the calm clear pools of the Merced river, and left not without a glimpse of the true wild in a black bear enjoying the sunset on the banks of a hight altitude lake near Tuolumne meadows. *Thankfully and luckily our journey started when it did, as currently there is a fireball burning out of control in the exact place we traveled and camped.
We ventured through the high deserts of the Eastern Sierras, the alien landscapes of Mono Lake and the extraterrestial highway through Nevada, where big horn sheep laze in salt veins, and into Utah to refresh and revitalize our body, mind, and soul at the Mystic hot springs. Now we reconvene with friends and family, sharing love, good food and drink in our home high in the rocky mountains of Colorado.
As we continue east to Chicago, our last stop in the U.S., we are one step closer to India. I am filled with more emotions than one can comprehend but I am overjoyed to be accompanied on this journey and exploration with my friend, partner, and love, Sarah. Once, I could not imagine doing this again, leaving all that I worked for and held close and dear to venture into the unknown, but no longer do I have to step alone....
